Fussy Eater Solutions – ARFID, Fussy Eating & Clinical Hypnotherapy in Melbourne

Fussy Eater Solutions is a specialist feeding and clinical hypnotherapy practice in South Yarra, Melbourne, helping children, adolescents and adults when eating has become restrictive, stressful or frightening.

The practice is led by Marie-France Laval, a clinical hypnotherapist with a background in dietetics, nutrition and counselling and more than 15 years’ experience supporting individuals and families with eating difficulties.

Marie-France works with persistent fussy eating, Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), food anxiety, sensory food sensitivities, choking phobia (phagophobia), fear of swallowing, binge eating and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). She also has particular experience supporting neurodivergent clients, including autistic people and those with ADHD, where sensory sensitivities, anxiety and eating difficulties may overlap.

Rather than focusing simply on getting someone to eat a particular food, support is tailored to the reasons eating has become difficult. Depending on the individual, this may include parent coaching, feeding strategies, clinical hypnotherapy, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), regulation strategies and gradual approaches to building confidence with food and eating.

For people experiencing a fear of choking or swallowing, the focus is on reducing the learned fear response and rebuilding confidence around eating. For IBS and gut-related symptoms, gut-directed hypnotherapy is also available.

Parents can receive practical support for persistent fussy eating and stressful mealtimes, while adolescents and adults can work directly with Marie-France on food anxiety, restricted eating and greater confidence eating both at home and socially.
